Story and Details
Just about every Omega Speedmaster advertisement features an image of outer space, or an astronaut, or some mention or reference to their longstanding relationship with NASA. Speedmaster marketing is up there with the best ad campaigns of all time. Omega never lets us forget that the Speedmaster was chosen for the Apollo program in 1964. But within the vast universe of Speedmaster ads, there are some print ads that shine brighter than others... This 1975 ad is unequivocally one of them, with its brilliant headline, "the most trustworthy watch on earth is an understatement." and commonly-used photo of Ed White in 1965 floating famously (and bravely), achieving an epic feat for the U.S. - their first spacewalk. The scene is inspirational and transports you back to a time, not too long ago, when astronaut names were household names - as popular as athletes and movie stars of the day. These helmeted heroes, represented by legends such as Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong, are the ultimate brand ambassadors. Who wouldn't want to buy - and wear - the exact watch worn by an astronaut. And speaking of the watch, this ad mentions it'll be worn for the upcoming Apollo-Soyuz mission, which happened in July 1975, just before the advertisement was published. And although the ad is from 1975, the version pictured in this ad, with an applied metal logo, appears to be a reference 145.012 or 145.022-68 transitional model (but on a period correct bracelet). I'll take either!

First, what a great ad, in excellent condition. And just as importantly the framing job was perfect. Thank you Nick for the incredible attention to detail and proactive customer service.

I bought this ad for a friends birthday on short notice. Nick was kind enough to take time out of his day to meet up, deliver it, and have a coffee while talking watches and life! That's the kind of customer service and communication you can expect from Nick. You can't go wrong with purchasing an ad from him. I've bought 4 from him and all have been incredible.

The print itself is far more crisp and well-preserved in person than I had anticipated. If my ad is any indicator, which by its age I can assume it is, it appears that Nick has taken pains to select only the finest examples available. The framing is top notch. From the beveling on the border, to the hanging wire on the back, it is obvious that no effort was spared. Communication was excellent and shipping was prompt. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend AdPatina. I look forward to seeing this on my wall for decades to come. Really, really good stuff.

I am so glad I found Ad Patina and had the pleasure of working with Nick. The level of attention and care Nick has for his customers is unfortunately rare in todays e-commerce experience. He truly brings his passion to what he does and it shines through. The selection of ads here is just incredible!
I was working on creating an ad wall in my home office and was delighted to find this specific ad. I personally have a connection with this ad (my first good watch was this exact model (3520.53.00)). I actually purchased it second hand from a Tourneau in the mid 00’s which makes the ad even more special (the ad I purchased was specifically a Tourneau advert).
Nick, thanks for helping me make my vision a reality and making it a special experience!
