Land Rover Proofs
In addition to traditional magazine ads being available, there’s also original Land Rover Proofs…
I’ve created a special page to showcase these awesome proofs. Click below to see over 50 authentic proofs that come directly from Allen Richardson’s archive. Allen is the adman I interviewed who worked for the agency that created the ads.
Proofs are limited (when they’re gone they’re gone!). They’re in near-perfect condition, printed on amazing quality, vibrant, glossy card stock - and are truly perfect for framing!
What are Land Rover Proofs?
“As part of preparing the ad files to send to the magazines, the agency would make prints of the ad for the magazines to match for color accuracy. These ‘proofs’ or as they’re sometimes called in the ad business ‘reprints’ were printed on very good stock with rich, accurate color. While printing them for the magazines, the agency would run off additional ones to be used for various purposes - for Land Rover to send to dealerships, to be used to get PR and press, and to be entered into advertising award shows. The people that worked on the ad, such as me, also got copies of them. In short, there ads are proofs that were made in the preparation leading up to the ad appearing in a magazine. It’s similar to a test pressing of a vinyl album or the first film print of a movie.” - Allen Richardson
