Jaeger LeCoultre (JLC) is undeniably a brand that has been responsible for a number of momentous developments in watchmaking. Often known as the “watchmaker’s watchmaker”, JLC has supplied movements to some of the most well-known brands in the industry, including Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, and Patek Philippe. In their ads, JLC doesn’t shy away from highlighting their horological prowess, often featuring watches and their specs as the focal point. Even in the messaging, you can see the brand’s detail-oriented and confident approach to watchmaking shine.
A watch that has become synonymous with the JLC brand, the Reverso is one of the most timeless and classic designs to have been introduced to the market. First released in the 1930s as a sports watch, the signature reversible case was originally a solution to preventing cracked crystals during polo matches. In the earliest Reverso ads, you can often find sample engravings on the case back, while in more modern ones, you’ll see a shift to highlighting the Duo, a unique variation of the classic watch that offers the wearer two watches in one.
Another noteworthy model from JLC, the Memovox was the brand’s first wristwatch with an alarm complication. Since its introduction in the 1950s, JLC has developed multiple variations of the original, including the Deep Sea Alarm, which is a classic among vintage watch lovers. Similar to the watches themselves, Memovox ads are also special as they show how people can leverage its functionality in their everyday lives.
